Coffee Talk
Topic1: Who am I?
Coffee with Carlie---sounds an awful lot like Koffee with Karan save the Indian aspect and snarky comments, doesn't it? In my wildest dreams, it's a talk show---perhaps a cross between ETC's The Today Show and Oprah Winfrey show---where my interviews (ranging from the experiences of natural disaster survivors to Johnny Depp's notorious, bohemian image) are hosted in a laidback cafe scene.
However, once again, the inexorable, annoying reality bug strikes and bites its unsuspecting victim. Although we (that is collectively, just me, myself and I) lack the necessary funds, equipment and connections as well as the supposed millions of viewers (who don't even know I exist), I still get my share of the limelight. Fortunately the title and idea still holds itself true: I love coffee---the smell, that is; I love the ambience of the cafe and the kind of crowd I'm surrounded by. Because I am innately a sociable and communicable being, I do get to interview people---sadly not Johnny Depp, but my friends and family who compensate enough for the frustration towards the chances of meeting the celebrity. With them, I am also relieved and permitted to let myself go entirely. (Although in any circumstance, I find myself slipping into a Friends moment and preparing for instantaneous, interminable laughter from the audience).
Perhaps another reason why I imagine my life as a talk show is because I discovered I have the patience to listen, understand and counsel people experiencing different issues. Although I may appear to be but an inexperienced juvenile (especially since I am one of the youngest in the batch), I find myself transcending this current age and being able to handle situations maturely. Old Soul might be an appropriate description for me, not only because of the previous reason but because my interests are retro. (For instance I more often than not, prefer Bossanova, Jazz and jukebox music to Rock, Hiphop and RnB, if you know what I mean.) But modernly speaking, I am referred to as a non-conformist. I dislike trends both in fashion and in thought. (I won't even be surprised if many (specifically those pathetic, pitiful, narrow-minded people) may view me as heretical for I embrace and adapt a variety of beliefs). I loathe people imposing or attempting to convert others with a forcible and superior attitude---(apparently, they've not learned the word respect). Other than the Ten Commandments of which my religion dictates, I live my life according to Desiderata by Max Ehrmann.
All of the abovementioned information you have read, is what I believe quintessentially encompasses my being of which neither one can be changed or erased by you or whosoever. Coffee with Carlie is therefore not just my childish dream of some easy-business media show anymore, but a personality and lifestyle of enjoying the moment and getting to know you and the world, from two unique angles---mine and yours.
So now that you have pretty much a clear idea of who I am, it would be my turn to treat you to a cup of coffee some other time. I want to know whether you like your coffee black or with cream.

Fabulous! Well written! And yes, if you do write a book someday, secure me a copy. :D
Coffee fan present. I dream to put up a coffee shop someday - for the scent and the space. I want it to be filled with book. I want it to have a stage for open mic sessions - for singing or poetry reading or whatever.
I am against all trends as well - in clothing and in thought. I really like how you said that. But going forward, I am happy that you are what they call an independent thinker. So, I wouldn't be afraid of you being swayed by external forces when it comes to standing up to what you believe in.
Keep on writing...I see you have many fans. Including myself.
Change the world with your words.
Blaze a trail...
ohhh carla i love it. <3 and i love retro too!!
